The Art of Interning

Summer Interns 23’ Jenna, Krystal, Matt, Scott, Celena and Marie

Prologue:

When destiny calls you better answer it... even while nature calls on the other line XD. YEP, I got called and accepted for the C.A. internship while sitting on the can and it's something my supervisor and I laugh about to this day. At Coded Arts, there's this culture that plays hard because they work even harder. It's a people that brings out the best in your character and the most in your success.

Deep Thought

Joel in the midst of instruction.

Level 1: “Anything can be done more efficiently.”- J. Yawching

The perspective I had on the Gaming Industry was completely shattered when I started the internship. It was more than a single-task school assignment. We worked in tangent with healthy communicative partners under strong experienced leadership to complete the pipeline and accomplish our goals. We stayed organized and structured to maintain efficiency and collaboration in our team and understood that pride gets in the way of our growth and evolution beyond the scope of our little island. To be part of this industry, you must embrace passion and collaboration while developing a global outlook.

Trifecta

Marie, Jenna and Krystal

Level 2: “Fail fast and find the fun.” - C. Moore

It's easy to feel insecure when you're in a room full of amazing artists. A challenge I faced was strengthening my spirit so it wouldn't break under the pressures of not feeling good enough. Understanding that each artist I stood next to was my friend, my teammate, and an opportunity to learn and grow and that I felt incredibly lucky and supported instead of discouraged. I made a lot of mistakes in my internship, but with the help of my teammates I learnt just as fast and felt empowered to be better than I was when I started. Every day was a fun learning experience where I could be my better self and a part of the cycle of empowering our team.

The Bromance

Matt and Scott

Level 3: “As long as I'm in something to do with art.” - C. Espinoza

Not many people with a strong passion and desire for this field can comfortably live out their dreams, especially in Trinidad and Tobago. During the internship I saw many people from different walks of life come together in pursuit of their passion and made this company a family. It was easy to appreciate the opportunities, experiences, support and growth but I always had to remember that this family is also a business. What better way is there to express my love for this family than being an asset that improves this company, this industry and my country. Being a part of Coded-Arts didn't make my dreams come true... it made my unimaginable possible.

“Scripted on our Coded Hearts is “Del+E" to Deliver Excellence.” - S. Mungalsingh
